When should I book and have my maternity session? --- I recommend between 32 and 36 weeks ideally... when your bump is all lovely and round, but you're still comfortable moving around; however everyone is different and I can work with you at any stage you feel most comfortable.
I always recommend booking in your maternity session once you've had you 20 week scan, to guarantee availability, especially for location or weekend sessions.

Can my partner be in the photos? ----- Yes, partners and younger siblings are always welcome on the maternity session shoot. I love capturing the connection between you all. I will always get a nice mix of you all together, as well as lots of just you and bump.

Do you shoot maternity sessions outside? ----- I offer both at-home and location maternity sessions; depending on your preference. Location sessions can take place either on a beach or in woodlands, whichever you have the strongest call to. Outside maternity sessions aren't just restricted to the summer months, I've done some beautiful cosy winter shoots outside. Golden hour is so beautiful for photography, offering a warm glow, and some lovely colours. These sessions take place either early morning or late in the evening (an hour before/after sunset/sunrise). These sessions book up fast, and availability for evenings and weekends is limited - definitely book well in advance if this is your vibe.

Finer Details ------ all maternity session prices are for a weekday shoot, lasting one hour. If you wish to book a weekend session, these can be organised, with a £35 supplement.

An at-home newborn session is the perfect way to truly celebrate this sacred time, in your own home - this session is as stress free as possible, no travelling to a studio, packing bags for the kids, no worries if they will cooperate in a different environment. I arrive at your home, source the best pockets of light, and then, unobtrusively snap away.
These timeless sessions will hold so much nostalgia in years to come, "remember that sofa"...."oh I loved those curtains"... Your home and your everyday - the little Moses basket under the window, the dappled morning light in the nursery, or an older sibling bringing in their favourite toy to be included in the photos.

When should I book? --- I take bookings for newborn sessions anytime from the 12 week scan onwards. I pencil in the session around a week after your due date, and adjust once baby arrives. I take a capped number of sessions per month, to allow for diary changes, so booking in early is vital to allow for flexibility and ensuring availability too.

Ideal age of my newborn? --- newborn sessions work perfectly in the first two weeks of babies arrival, to capture and document those fleeting newborn features which change so fast. This age they are at their sleepiest, still naturally curled up from their position in the womb. However, I am also a huge fan of photographing older babies too, they are generally not as sleepy, less 'curled up' and definitely more alert, but they also start to show off their own little personalities!

My style is relaxed, unobtrusive and natural. I work predominately from your home, or in the great outdoors. No studio, no bright lights, just real moments taken in the places you cherish most.
I am a natural light photographer, meaning I don't use studio lights or a flash, we are led completely by the pockets of light in your home, or by the sunrise and sunset on a location session. If you book an at home shoot, I will spend some time to source little magic areas of your home that offer the most flattering light; and if you book a location shoot, I shall guide you depending on the time of year to ensure the light is neither too harsh or too dark.

I absolutely DO NOT expect you to look at the camera and say 'cheese' (although some small children do LOVE to do this!), the special moments happen when you are engaging with each other, and not focusing on me or the camera. Beauty flows when you are relaxed and at ease. Whilst I am predominately a natural, lifestyle photographer, I will assist and gently guide you to ensure the best results for your session are met - this may be as simple as asking you to move a hand, or turn slightly into better light.

I am based in Newquay, Cornwall, and tend to cover the Newquay, Truro and Plymouth areas frequently. I am happy to travel further a field; and this can be discussed upon enquiry.

A moody, overcast sky is a stunning backdrop to a location session. It also helps with squinty eyes - believe it or not, a really bright, sunny day is not ideal for a photo shoot. So, unless it's absolutely pouring, sessions can take place in a bit of mist, or light, intermittent drizzle. However, we will keep in touch as the session date approaches, and depending on the age of the subjects, rescheduling is always an option if weather is really bad.
